ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) –

After five months at All Children’s Hospital, Jaelyn Anderson finally gets to go home.

She is almost 11 months old, but has already been through so much.

On February 28th, she had a heart transplant.

“It’s pretty stressful, you have your good days and your bad days,” said her dad, Joshua Anderson.

Jaelyn still has a long road ahead. For at least a year, her parents must keep her isolated from anyone who might be sick. They can’t take quick trips to the store, or even a stroll through the park.

“We just got to keep her from getting sick. That’s our goal. If she catches a cold or a flu, we could be back in here another month.”

The family made their rounds at the hospital, saying goodbye to all the nurses.

“I’m so happy for you,” the nurses told them, as they hugged them.

Her parents are looking forward to some family time. But it’ll just be the three of them for a while.

“Games, TV, cuddling…nothing much you can do, just be there for each other, make a lot of laughs,” said mom Brooke.

The family can’t go back to their New Port Richey home just yet. Doctors orders mean they have to stay close to All Children’s for at least a month. Jaelyn will have checkups every other day for a while, so for now, they’ll stay in an apartment nearby.

When it was time to go on Friday, Jaelyn walked down the hall with her mom’s help.

Then they headed out into the sunshine to their packed car.

Mom Brooke, said “ready,” and then they piled in their car and drove off, excited for the next chapter of their lives.
