Transplant Families is proud to be a part of the first ever Champions in Care Forum hosted by the National Alliance for Caregiving and Global Liver Institute.
The National Alliance for Caregiving’s Champions in Care Forum will be an ongoing annual webinar to raise awareness about current transplant system reform efforts and highlight policy opportunities to recognize the role of family caregivers and adequately support them.
At the first-ever Champions in Care Forum, we conducted an in-depth exploration of critical reforms shaping the future of transplant care. We delved into the OPTN Modernization Initiative and the Organ Transplantation Affinity Group’s efforts, with a special focus on the impact of these changes on family caregivers. We also engaged in dynamic discussions that elevated the essential role caregivers play and advocated for policies that prioritize their needs.
Transplant caregiving is a demanding, often overlooked role. Family caregivers provide crucial support throughout the transplant journey, from waitlist to recovery. Despite their essential role, they face significant challenges, including time constraints, stress, lack of support, and unequal burdens for disadvantaged caregivers.
We are excited to be included in this Champions of Care Forum which took place in August. Please watch at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om1DzZKducU
At Transplant Families we are committed to walking families through challenging times and supporting organizations who make a difference in the transplant world.
Our mission at Transplant Families is to unite families who have children with solid organ or bone marrow transplants by providing inspiration, support, and education. We aim to help patients and families make the most of life before, during, and after transplant.
